Bye bye Brad! Angelina heads out of New Orleans without seeing Brad yesterday

Both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are well-known for their dedication to the rebuilding efforts in New Orleans, frequently spending time at their home there.

But yesterday Jolie flew out of New Orleans yesterday on the very same day that partner Pitt flew in.

The couple visited New Orleans to raise awareness about the stricken city five years after it was left devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

But they didn't honour the anniversary with each other, choosing not to appear together even once. Instead, Pitt and Jolie, who have six children, chose to go their separate ways.

Pitt arrived in the Louisiana state yesterday and and toured the Lower 9th Ward, one of the worst-hit areas.

The 46-year-old actor looked happy and relaxed as he interacted with the local people, keeping his outfit low-key in jeans and a denim T-shirt.

Meanwhile Jolie paid a very short visit to the city yesterday before leaving on a private jet.

Pitt also took the time to visit some of the new eco houses that were built thanks to his Make It Right Foundation, for residents who lost their homes in the disaster.
Fifty houses have been made so far and 150 more are planned.

Pitt says, 'It was unfathomable. I mean, just... you had no idea that there were families and here. It was just wiped clean. Except for the occasional pile up of homes and... on top of homes.

'I mean, people's... people build their lives here. And...and... I mean, New Orleans is a unique place to begin with. And I say, a cultural treasure trove for... for America to begin with.

'But the thing that struck me was that these people were trying to...you know, these people were trying to get home. And... and were having a very difficult time doing so. And as I got into and started studying it.'

Both Jolie and Pitt are very popular in New Orleans, where their efforts to help the local populace haven't gone unnoticed.

Baxter Barnes, who received a home from Make It Right and has spent time with both Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

He told RadarOnline.com: 'New Orleans still has a long way to go to get back from Katrina but things are moving in the right direction thanks to guys like Brad Pitt.

'They are both genuine and down-to-earth people and if were not for them we, like a lot of other people, would not have homes back in New Orleans.'

Jolie is allegedly in talks to star in the big-screen adaptation of 2009 British mini-series Unforgiven.
