Is Carly expecting the worse? Mrs Joe Cole flies out to South Africa ahead of England's crucial World Cup match
By Georgina Littlejohn
On my way, honey: Carly Cole, pushing baby daughter Ruby, heads out of Heathrow Airport bound for South Africa
Carly Cole defied England manager Fabio Capello's no-WAG rule today as she jetted off to South Africa.
The wife of midfielder Joe Cole flew out of Heathrow with the couple's baby daughter Ruby ahead of the team's crunch match.
While most of the wives and girlfriends, including Steven Gerrard's wife Alex Curran and Wayne Rooney's lady Coleen, are staying at home, Carly couldn't be without her man any longer.
Or she could also be feeling less than optimistic about England's chances tomorrow and wants to be by her husband's side in case he needs a shoulder to cry on.
England face Slovenia tomorrow afternoon in their last group game of the 2010 World Cup.
After dismal performances in their first two games against the U.S. and Algeria, the pressure is on for the team to win and make it through the group to the knockout stages.
Got to catch my flight: With her mother holding baby Ruby, Carly leaves her west London home
And by the look of their solemn and dejected faces as they travelled by bus to Port Elizabeth, they could certainly use some loving arms from their other halves to fall into if all fails to go well.
Carly, 26, looked casual but chic in black trousers, a white vest and wedged cotton shoes as she left her west London home this morning.
With her mother holding baby Ruby, she checked she had all her bags and everything she needed for her flight.
Everything there? With the Chanel logo swinging from her handbag, Carly makes a last minute check before heading to the airport
Defiant: Glen Johnson's wife Laura took their baby daughter to see him play against Algeria while Chantelle Tagoe, Emile Heskey's fiancée, visited poverty-stricken orphans
Carly is one of the few WAGs that have defied Capello's no-wives-or-girlfriend's rule for the international tournament.
Glen Johnson’s wife, Laura, took their baby daughter to see him play in the goalless draw against Algeria on Saturday.
And Emile Heskey’s girlfriend Chantelle Tagoe has also been in South Africa where last week she was spotted visiting poverty-stricken orphans.
Get set: Coleen Rooney, wearing a bright yellow Next dress yesterday, is said to be on standby to fly out to South Africa to support husband Wayne
Deep in thought: A solemn England team, including John Terry, Aaron Lennon, Michael Dawson and Frank Lampard, arrive in Port Elizabeth
