No way Beck: David Beckham will miss England's World Cup bid in South Africa
David Beckham vowed to get fit again after surgery to repair his ruptured achilles tendon. His spirits were lifted by the arrival of wife Victoria in Finland and words of support from the football world.
The England midfielder, 34, was operated on by Sakari Orava on Monday. He picked up the injury, which will rule him out of the World Cup, playing for AC Milan at the weekend.
'I'm feeling positive and concentrating on getting back to full fitness over the coming months,' said Beckham in a statement.

'The operation was a success and I'd like to thank Dr Orava and all the medical staff who looked after me.
'I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their messages of support.'
Best wishes were sent by high-profile figures - from Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo to Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
